First of all, I say "outfit" because I'm not planning to wear a wedding dress.
I did try some dresses on at Kleinfeld's, the Brooklyn bridal tradition. They were very nice, and I even found two dresses that I would have been happy to wear had I not already had this idea... I ordered my top online from a custom tailoring shop and had it in my hands within three weeks, despite the fact that it came all the way from Hong Kong. My seamstress, Andrea, is working on the first mock-up of my...pants. That's right, pants. They'll be silk charmeuse with a chiffon overlay, and my tunic top will fit nicely over it all. Comfort, beauty, and best of all, made to fit me personally. Update: Andrea is making the final pair of pants now. We'll leave them unhemmed until I find the shoes I'm going to wear, since it won't be possible to change the hem on the chiffon overlay. Now where am I going to find sandals in March? Also, Amara has graciously agreed to make a veil for me, but it's pretty simple so she won't do that until closer to the date. Update to the update: My pants are done! Below is a link to some silly pictures of me in them at the store (my designer is co-owner of a very excellent store in Brooklyn, Eidolon). Josh, don't click on this. |
